Fitness tips for work at home professionals

When I quit my job around six months back, I had no idea how drastically this would impact my fitness levels. In around 2 months time, I gained around 5 kgs of weight, I constantly used to feel tired and I also developed a kind of insomina. I was not able to sleep until late in the night. Around 3.00 am sometimes. It  was then that I realized what I was doing wrong. I was not giving my body enough expercise.

- I was sitting around in my desk for more than 6 hours at a stretch

- My outdoor activities had reduced drastically

- I had no contact with my friends and was always working even on weekends

- I was not the least bothered about my health as my mind was always thinking of work and how to complete projects on time.

I knew I had to change this and over the past few months I have achieved a lot of success. Here are my tips for those of you who are facing very similar problems as mine:

1.) Take a break: Take a break every 1 hour. To do this keep a recurring alarm in your mobile phone or any other device so it beeps every one hour. As soon as you hear the beep, get up and streth yourself, run around for a while inside or outside your house and drink some water or other fluids

2.) Make it a point of go outdoors: Everyday go outdoors even if you do not have any work. Take up jogging if that helps. Here are some jogging tips to get you started. Take up cycling if that helps. Cycling is even better than jogging. You can cycle indoors or take a trip outside in the mornings or evenings. I own a Felt F4 which I love cycling on. There are many road bikes to choose from if you plan on buying one. You can even choose to go for some simple less expensive bikes as well.

3.) Take up skipping: Skipping is a great exercise which you can do whenever you feel like and it's fun too.

4.) Entertain yourself: Entertain yourself in a healthy way. Walk to the nearst garden or even better, plant your own garden.

5.) Get a Dog: Having a dog at home is a great motivation to go outside. You need to take the dog out every day. Dogs that make you workout are great.

6.) Cut down on alcohol and fizzy drinks: When you are working you never know how many bottles of fizzy drinks or bear you gulp down at times. Cut this down and replace this with water instead.

7.) Take up yoga: Yoga is a great way to heal your inner body. People who do yoga think better and can work faster too.

Just my two cents.. will be adding more points later.. time for a break :)
